SMI Launches Her Campaign in
Kawu District, Abuja, Nigeria
As part of its effort to campaign and sensitize people on the need to save women from pregnancy related death in Africa, Sweet Mother International, Abuja-Nigeria chapter formerly launched her campaign in Kawu district of Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria-Abuja.
The program which kick started on Thursday,10th February witnessed a large turn out of volunteers and it ended on Sunday, February 13, which was the climax and the formal inauguration of the volunteers by the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Dr John Onaiyekan.
Addressing the volunteers the Catholic Archbishop applauded the efforts of the SMI Volunteers in the community and charged them to be dedicated to their service to humanity.
Also, the FCT Coordinator, Sweet Mother International (SMI), Mr Adeshina J Mathew, noted that one of the objectives of the organization is “to mobilize support, donation and care for rural women in Africa, including visits to obstetrics hospitals and to show love to new and expectant mothers.”
He (Mr Adeshina Mathew) urged them to TAKE ACTION!, assuring volunteers that “this bold step you have taken to join and volunteer yourselves to this noble cause shall not be in Vain”.
He further called on government at all levels to prioritize the empowerment of women in rural areas, as this will help to reduce to the minimum the skyrocketing height of pregnancy related deaths in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Also Speaking, Chief of Tundun Wada in Kawu District, Chief Bitrus Tushi, who is also a volunteer of SMI, encouraged his subjects to find their voluntary membership to Sweet Mother International as a worthy cause, especially for them that are in the rural Community.
The Highlight of the mind blowing event witnessed a large turn out of volunteers who campaigned within the community.
