Objectives
Sweet Mother International (SMI)
"Save African Women From Pregnancy Related Deaths" Campaign
Awareness and Advocacy Initiatives:
Organize rallies, media campaigns, and TV talk shows to highlight the plight of women in Africa, especially those dying from treatable pregnancy complications.
Use these platforms to raise awareness about the severity of maternal mortality in Africa.
Government and Stakeholder Engagement:
Call upon governments and relevant stakeholders to take action in reducing maternal mortality rates.
Advocate for African governments to provide free obstetrics care for women, which is crucial in saving lives.
Mobilizing Support for Rural Women:
Gather support, donations, and care for rural women in Africa.
Organize visits to obstetrics hospitals to extend love and support to new and expectant mothers.
Establishment of a Trust Fund:
Set up a fund to assist rural women with obstetrics care, in collaboration with governments and stakeholders.
The goal is to provide free and efficient obstetrics care to rural women, many of whom cannot afford essential medical procedures like cesarean operations.
Mobile Maternal Health Unit (MMHU):
Create a mobile unit to visit rural communities and assess the health conditions of pregnant women.
Early identification of women at risk of complications during childbirth.
Equip the MMHU with necessary obstetrics equipment (e.g., ultrasound machines) and medical personnel.
Obstetrics Emergency Intervention Unit (OEIU):
Develop a unit to rescue women from rural areas experiencing complications, transporting them to the nearest obstetrics hospital.
The OEIU will include ambulances or medical helicopters, fitted with obstetrics equipment and staffed by trained obstetricians and midwives.
Conclusion:
SMI's comprehensive approach in the "Save African Women From Pregnancy Related Deaths" campaign underscores a deep commitment to improving maternal health across Africa. Through targeted initiatives, ranging from awareness campaigns to establishing emergency health units, SMI aims to significantly reduce the number of maternal deaths due to treatable complications.
