SMI PARTICIPATES IN HEALTH SERVICES DELIVERY FORUM

SMI Abuja was invited to an INTERACTIVE SESSION of all Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and International Partners (IP) collaborating with The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Health Secretariat, Abuja, Nigeria.

The FCT Administration invited various NGO and international partners to a meeting for discussion of important issues pertaining to the delivery of health services within the FCT.

The aim of the meeting was to intimate the NGOs and IPs on the health Agenda of the Federal Capital Territory. The meeting holds quarterly to:

1.Ensure synergy between the NGOs and MDAs
2.To concentrate the activities of the NGOs outside the Federal Capital City.
3. Monitor all activities and ensure compliance with all signed Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs).

The meeting gave room for discussion of various issues like: Maternal and Child Health, Non Communicable Disease, HIV/AIDs, Tuberculosis and other health concern in the FCT.

The NGOs would be engaging with government and would collectively work as an Advocacy group in refocusing the activities of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.

The Representative of the NGOs at the meeting were handed a 62 page Strategic Health Development Plan for the 2010-2015 of the FCT Administration for comments and observation and advice the Government accordingly.

SMI SUPPORTS "MISS NGO" PAGEANT


On 28th of September 2011, Abuja went agog with the grand finale of the miss NGO 2011 Pageant. The event was graced by Dignitaries from Public, Private and civil society organization. Further, the event was graced by series of performance from the entertainment Industry, providing a platform to advocate and sensitize the guest on issues with the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the battlement.

The events which began on the 19th September with ten days camping of 13 contestants aims to synergize the effort of various NGOs in complimenting the effort of government towards national
development.

At the camp the contestant were lectured on issues relating to the MDG, Community Development, Management Skill and Social psychology etc.

The Abuja Sweet Mother International (SMI) was invited as a speaker to facilitate one of the session during the camping and among other key roles.

SMI Supports Activities to Commemorate the 2011 World Breast Feeding Week

The Primary Health Care development Board of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja , Nigeria hosted an event tagged “A Baby Show” as part of activities to commemorate the 2011 World Breast Feeding Week.

Sweet Mother International Abuja was invited as a special Guest; and opportunity to votes of
thanks and to advice the nursing mothers of the need to adopt the exclusive breast feeding for a minimum of six months.
