To God be the Glory! The Save rally was held in Warri, Delta State Nigeria on Friday 18th
June 2010.  

The rally in Warri couldn't have come at a better time than this. Despite the volatile nature of the Niger Delta of which Delta State is included, Delta State has been enjoying so much government involvement in the mother and child health care delivery.

Before the rally The Save Team visited the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Otumara who gave us astonishing reports on the involvement of the Delta State Government on free antenatal for pregnant women up to delivery stage and also free cesarean operation
as the case may be. 

Dr. Otumara  also told the Save Team that government is also playing active role in other fields of medical assistance in the state especially free treatment for children from birth to five years.

We were amazed and we applauded these laudable achievement of the Delta State Government.  In a nutshell our aim for the rally which is to create awareness of the increasing maternal deaths in Delta State and get the state government to be actively involved was almost defeated since the people of the state have already been enjoing free medical treatment especially for pregnant women and children.  These Government intervention has reduced the number of maternal deaths in the state.

The Delta State Government also built the state of the art hospitals and health centres in Delta State.  Qualified and experienced doctors and nurses were also employed for this purpose.

The Save Team see the Delta State Government as partners in progress and did not hesitate to carry-out the Save Rally.  The rally which took place at the Lecture Theater of the Petroleum Training Institute witnessed a large crowd of people despite the heavy down pour.

The Save Rally in Warri recorded a huge success.  The papers presented were so rich and encompassing and this inspired  the students that participated to volunteer to go to the nooks and corners of the state to create further awareness.

Despite the fact that the Save Team never got any financial sponsorship, yet we got volunteer  speakers drawn from different fields of life who also share in this burden.  They are Female Medical Doctors, Female Lecturers, Administrators, and sister NGOs. I want to sincerely thank the Save Team all over the UK/US/Australia/Africa. You have been a wonderful inspiration to us.  Your campaign for better treatment for Women in Africa cannot go unrewarded.  It brings to mind  the slogan by Burk which says "Evil prevails when good people fail to act."

I want to thank everyone for their tremendous support and encouragement.

We are most privileged to be a part of this achievement and the names of all the Save Team Worldwide will be written on gold as people who stood for the eradication of pregnancy related-deaths.
